Another Road Trip

Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas

Just home from a long weekend trip to Dallas/Fort Worth over Spring Break 2010.  Before our foreign exchange student, Christina, arrived at our home in Arkansas from Ecuador, her one request was a visit to Texas, so this was it.  This trip takes about five hours to drive from our home.  We usually drive to Dallas, since a flight takes almost as long with the early airport arrival times now required.

We love Dallas.  We’d even love to live there.  Guess we’re city folk!  We’re Dallas Cowboy fans.  We love all the Pappa Restaurants, Humperdinks and many more.  We love the big city feel of Dallas and the back-to-the-ranch feel of Fort Worth.  I don’t think I’m country enough to live in Fort Worth. It was a nice trip.

I hated the windshield time.  Seemed we were always driving somewhere.  I remembered that feeling from our time in Hawaii over Christmas – too much windshield time.  At one point this weekend, I commented to Roger, this is exactly why I love cruises.  No driving!  Just get on the ship, enjoy myself, and leave the stress of the transportation to the captain.

Still love Dallas!  We ate at Pappadeaux, Pappacito’s, Humperdink’s, Joe’s Crab Shack, and What-A-Burger.  It snowed while we were there – in March, can you believe it?  So, we didn’t get to enjoy everything we wanted to do.  We visited Ripley’s Believe-It-Or-Not, Palace of Wax, Cowboy Coliseum’s indoor rodeo, Sixth Floor Museum, and the Fort Worth Zoo.  This trip was for the pleasure of our teens … we can’t wait to return again for a more adult trip with some different restaurants and cultural entertainment.
